Sample collection:
The sample must be collected before oral hygiene or eating/drinking, or at least 4 hours after. Nasopharyngeal and pharyngeal swabs are collected. A positive result indicates the presence of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in the sample, suggesting a COVID-19 diagnosis.
At collection, the patient must present a valid ID (CI, BI, or Passport) and the completed "PCR COVID-19 Test" form (downloadable HERE).
Results:
Issued in Romanian and English, within 24 hours after collection.
Note:
A false negative result may be explained by:
- sample collected too early or too late in the course of infection
- virus mutations
One or more negative results, especially from upper respiratory tract samples, do not exclude the possibility of SARS-CoV-2 infection.
