Carotid arteriography is an invasive imaging procedure used to evaluate the carotid arteries, the blood vessels that deliver oxygen-rich blood to the brain. This investigation helps diagnose narrowings, blockages, or other vascular abnormalities that can increase the risk of stroke. Peripheral arteriography involves injecting an iodine-based contrast agent directly into the peripheral arteries, followed by X-ray imaging to produce detailed pictures of blood flow.
