Coronary angiography is an essential medical procedure that allows doctors to see how blood flows through the coronary arteries supplying the heart. Contrast dye is injected through the catheter, making the heart’s vessels visible on X-ray images and revealing any narrowings or blockages.
After the test, you’ll be monitored for a few hours. Depending on your condition, you may go home the same day or the next day.
Protect the catheter site: avoid strenuous activity for a few days and keep the area clean. If you experience severe pain, swelling, or bleeding, contact a doctor immediately.
If blockages are found, further treatment such as angioplasty or stent placement may be needed.
